Coway Constructs Additional Solar Power Plant in Distribution Center

Coway Co., Ltd., “The Best Life Solution Company,” announced the additional construction of a solar power plant at its distribution center in Yugu, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea.
The company is constructing an additional solar power plant with a capacity of an estimated 1,000 kWh on the roof of the distribution center. Solar power is scheduled for commercial operation in the second half of this year.
Coway is now operating solar power plants in three factories – Yugu Factory (49.5KWh), Incheon Factory (39KWh), and Pocheon Factory (45KWh) - and one distribution center (48.8 KWh).
The construction of an additional solar power plant is a part of Coway’s ESG initiatives to minimize its negative impact on the environment. The company generated and used 227MW of renewable energy in 2020, which parallels to mitigation of approximately 106 tons of GHG emissions.
It aims to invest more in generating solar power and offset GHG emissions through renewable energy.
A Coway official said: “We pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and operate on 100% renewable energy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. We will continue our ESG management and make positive changes to the community.”
