Coway Co., Ltd., continues to dominate the domestic water purifier market, maintaining its position as a leading brand. From the company’s beginnings, Coway has prioritized enhancing its filtration technology, the key factor that influences the performance of its water purifiers. Unlike many competitors, Coway conducts research and development on its filters and even produces its filters in-house.

Coway's commitment to filtration technology and its confidence in product quality are evident in its numerous domestic and international certifications. The company’s latest ice water purifiers stand out, having achieved the highest number of filtration performance certifications among ice water purifiers from South Korean brands. By leveraging these certifications, Coway has enhanced its product quality, earning significant acclaim from consumers.

The Coway AIS 3.0 Water Purifier has achieved a total of 104 filtration performance certifications from accredited institutions worldwide, the highest among South Korean ice water purifiers. This includes 47 KC certifications and 79 international certifications from the Water Quality Association (WQA), which recognizes its effectiveness in removing a wide range of harmful substances, including viruses, bacteria, and environmental hormones.

Additionally, the Icon Ice Water Purifier has obtained certifications for its ability to remove microplastics and heavy metals, confirming its exceptional performance in 97 areas.

Despite the significant costs and time in obtaining overseas certifications, Coway remains committed to expanding its reach. This initiative aims to ensure that consumers can confidently use Coway water purifiers—these reputable international certifications enhance customer trust.

Coway was the first in the industry to obtain global certification from the WQA in 2008, a recognized international certification body for water purifiers.

The WQA conducts rigorous testing to grant its Gold Seal mark, evaluating not only filtration performance but also ensuring the safety and structural integrity of all components that come into contact with water, with approximately 200 harmful and toxic substances assessed.

To date, Coway has secured certification for over 80 products from the WQA, the highest number in South Korea’s water purifier industry. The company is dedicated to ensuring its key products meet international reliability standards through ongoing WQA certifications.

In addition to receiving the mandatory certifications for general filtration performance that the KC certification system requires, Coway also voluntarily undergoes assessments for up to 41 filtration performance metrics on different filter types.
