Every year, IDPD encourages organizations worldwide to reflect on their role in creating environments where everyone is able to thrive. For Coway, the “Best Life Solution Company”, the matter of the inclusion of persons with disabilities is not merely a symbolic gesture tied to a single day; it is a continuous commitment rooted in the core belief that equitable opportunities enable individuals to enhance their well-being, confidence and social participation. Through ongoing support for disabled sports programs and cultural activities, Coway is contributing to a more inclusive ecosystem for people with disabilities in the company’s home country of South Korea.
Championing Ability: The Coway Blue Wheels
The Coway Blue Wheels, Winners of the 2024 Korean Wheelchair Basketball League Championship
Arguably the most well-known of the company’s efforts towards promoting disability inclusion, the Coway Blue Wheels, led by former national player Head Coach Youngmoo Kim, brings together many of the sport’s leading athletes, and is currently the only corporate-sponsored wheelchair basketball team in South Korea. With Coway providing sports equipment, training facilities and welfare support, athletes are able to focus on their performance in exceptional and dependable environments.
The Coway Blue Wheels have won a total of 11 domestic and international wheelchair basketball competitions to date, rising to the prestigious position of being the top-ranked team in their league. Most recently, the team claimed victory in the 2025 Korean Wheelchair Basketball League’s regular season, further solidifying its reputation as a model for corporate engagement in disabled sports programs.

Beyond their own athletic achievements, the Coway Blue Wheels also play a meaningful role in the socio-educational sphere. The team regularly visits schools and universities across South Korea, providing students with firsthand experiences that foster understanding and break down preconceived stereotypes about disabilities. This year, Coway also hosted its inaugural Coway Cup Youth Wheelchair Basketball Competition, with six local high school teams made up of both disabled and non-disabled students participating. The event not only encouraged inclusive sportsmanship among the high school students, but also helped cultivate a culture where diversity is appreciated, celebrated and championed.
Amplifying Voices: Mulbitsori Choir
In tandem to the company’s sporting initiatives, Coway also founded the Mulbitsori Choir in 2022 in order to provide visually impaired individuals with more creative opportunities. The choir’s name, ‘Mulbitsori’, contains a special meaning within itself; the beautiful melody (‘sori’ in Korean) of the choir is created as Coway’s representative symbol, clear water (‘mul’), comes together with the illuminating light (‘bit’) of the talented singers.
People with disabilities often have limited platforms through which to express their talents; the Mulbitsori Choir was created to change that. The choir offers members a space to develop their musical skills, build their confidence and share their artistry with wider audiences, thus transforming existing perceptions of disability through the power of performance.

The Mulbitsori Choir has appeared on numerous regional and national stages, delivering moving performances that highlight both the skill and the spirit of its choristers. In 2025, Mulbitsori Choir earned top honors at South Korea’s 33rd National Choral Festival with the Disabled, a milestone that underscored the group’s excellence and growing potential. Coway also hosts its own annual Mulbitsori Choir recital, inviting company employees along with the community at large to experience the choir’s music and engage in artistic inclusion for its social, as well as its creative, value.
A Long-Term CSR Vision Rooted in Empowerment
Coway’s programs for the inclusion of persons with disabilities demonstrate the company’s dedication to sustainable, long-term support – not just short-term sponsorship. Through the provision of established environments where athletes and performers can train, grow and challenge themselves, Coway is enabling such groups to pursue their higher goals and take on new opportunities with confidence.
This commitment mirrors Coway’s broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) mission, “Good Wave for People & Environment”. Known worldwide for its innovations in the clean water and air sectors, Coway also prioritizes wider social value by championing communities that are often overlooked. Through its support for disabled sports programs and artistic activities, the company is continuing its goal to contribute to a future where people with disabilities can participate fully, creatively and independently in society.

As Coway continues to expand its inclusivity-based initiatives, it aims to deepen community engagement, broaden opportunities for youth participation and highlight the continued achievements of the Coway Blue Wheels and Mulbitsori Choir. By elevating stories of perseverance, talent and collaboration, Coway maintains that true inclusion is more than just a corporate social contribution strategy; it is a path to building a society wherein everyone is able to thrive.
