- Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute recognized as a TÜV SÜD designated testing laboratory for microbiological testing and hazardous substance testing
 
SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 9, 2023 -- Coway Co., Ltd., “The Best Life Solution Company,” announced today that Coway’s Seoul-based R&D Center, the Environmental Technology Research Institute, has obtained accreditation as a designated testing laboratory from TÜV SÜD Korea.
 
TÜV SÜD is one of the leading providers of Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) services worldwide that provides evaluations in various industries, from electronics to chemicals and medical devices. To be certified as a testing institute, a thorough inspection examines the test environment, equipment, capabilities, processes, and more to exceptional standards.
 
Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute has been recognized as a designated testing institute by TÜV SÜD in two fields: microbial testing and hazardous substances testing. With this certification, Coway can test its own products for these areas in-house to TÜV SÜD standards. The institute is in charge of evaluating and analyzing the antibacterial performance of home appliances against bacteria and fungi, including water purifiers, air purifiers, and bidets, as well as testing volatile organic compounds which can be found in mattresses.
 
In 2007, Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute was recognized as a designated testing laboratory by TÜV SÜD for analyzing the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) established by the European Union. With the new status, the institute is now a designated testing laboratory for three fields: microbial testing, hazardous substances, and RoHS.

Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute has also been recognized for its test and analysis capabilities by domestic and international certification bodies. These include approval as TSP (Technical Service Provider) by WQA (Water Quality Association), an international testing laboratory with accreditation from KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme), and a drinking water quality inspection agency by South Korea’s Ministry of the Environment.
